Inspirational indeed. Just watching Wasteland , so inspirational. The pickers were almost more inspirational than him. I was so pleased to see his efforts to bring a voice to these awesome people who make the choice to work in garbage rather than prostitution and drug running. Those who make an honest living, and the self sacrifice to provide for their families. Touching, brought tears. I should be doing more, we all should be doing more to share these stories and bring awareness and some reward and honor to people around the world and especially in our own communities. And then there were the Sugar Children before Wasteland.....

So I decided to do my artist research on David Hammons, currently 72 residing in Illinois. He was popular for his works in New York and Los Angeles during the 1970's and 80's. I first was introduced to his work at the Radical Presence show at the YBCA in San francisco this fall.
Emily Wilson
artist and printmaker. Emily Wilson is one of many artists who have inspired my use of color, texture and layers within my art. When working with my art, the colors, layers, and textures are thought of and applied as if they were each created with separate plates or screens as they would be in the art of printmaking. |
